Scope of work

Automation Works was asked to do the electrical and automation work for a mayonnaise plant that could pull in all the necessary ingredients of all the various mayonnaise recipes into a tank by using vacuum, mix the mayonnaise and then transfer it into holding tanks where it will be used by the different fillers. Inoxpa SA did all the mechanical work. We had to do all the electrical work, installation and commission the whole plant.

Equipment used

The Mayonnaise plant software was done on a Siemens CPU 313C that was the main PLC and we used a KTP700 Basic DP HMI for the control and data display which communicated with the PLC threw Ethernet. We also used an Endress & Hauser Ecograph T to trend the temperatures and pressure in the mixing tank.

Design

All the stainless steel work was done at our Johannesburg branches office and some of the electrical work such as panel building and instrumentation connecting of the skid was also done at our workshop before it was shipped to the factory, the pipe work between the skid and the Mayonnaise Holding Tanks was done on site by the client. The remaining electrical work and commissioning was done by our Swellendam Branch on site.
